Fly Your Plane To Alaska
|
|
Cams organized by Alaska region. Good current & clear-day images. |
Airports, photo's and diagrams |
Great site with many photo's of airports and bush airstrips all over the state. Some of the pictures are dated, but they still give a good indication of terrain and runway condition. |
Alaska Airmen's Association |
The Alaska Airmen's Logbook is the best overall information source for planning a trip to and around Alaska. Start with the Airmen's Logbook before you do any other reading! Do NOT buy the video's about cool places to fly in Alaska--they are very, very poor quality, in my personal opinion. I had to struggle to make it all the way through one of them. |
AOPA Alaska Flight Planning |
Superb, well organized, information on flying to Alaska. Customs info, forms, tips, pilot reports, regulations and such. |
Bush flying books |
Good selection in one spot, rather than searching all over Amazon based on various search keywords. Two of the best books, in my humble opinion, are "Flying the Alaska Wild" and "Wager with the Wind" |
FAA AK & Canadian info |
Alaska and Canadian information, weather, customs information, survival tips, ..., a host of good information |

Detailed FAR Part 93 info on flying into the high-density area around Anchorage |
Cirrus Pilot's Alaska Info |
Site has interesting pictures and related flight information. From what I could see on the site, their route to/from Alaska seems geared to long-leg flights--to get to Alaska with minimum stops in route. |
NOAA Alaska Aviation Weather |
Excellent detailed weather information for Alaska. Similar to NOAA's site for the continental U.S. |
Talkeetna Bush Pilot Info |
While there are quite a number of bush pilots offering service out of the town of Talkeetna, Doug Geeting is one that I've personally flown with on at least six occasions. Doug and his crew are among the best in Alaska. If you've never landed on an Alaskan glacier in the midst of the Alaskan range, I highly, highly recommend you book a flight with Doug. |
Historical Airport Photo's |
Interesting set of historical airport photo's from around Alaska |

Nav Canada |
Nav Canada is a private company that owns and operates Canada's civil air navigation Service. Find all sorts of info such as weather, NOTAMS, and aerodrome charts here. |
AOPA Canadian Flight Info |
Great, well organized, source of all the information you need to make the flight to Canada as safe, pleasurable and problem free as possible. Forms, regulations and even trip reports by other pilots. |
Alaska Park Information |
Denali National Park |
Comprehensive information about Denali National Park. |
Hiking In Denali |
Somewhat interesting account of a group's hiking experiences in Denali. Amusing anecdotes abouts mosquitos, Denali bus driver(s) and such. Good pictures. |
Denali Area History |
Text (no pictures) covering items of historical interest in Denali National Park. Short sections on native people, mining, transportation and tourism. |

Excellent pictures of areas within Kobuk Valley National park! Links to other sites and kayak adventures. |
